In 1995, "RX-78-2 Gundam" was the first release in the MG series, created to combine Bandai's latest technology focused on plastic model posability with the reality of the mechanical details pursued by creators and users.

With its various versions, Ver. 1.5, Ver. Ka, Ver. ONE YEAR WAR 0079, Ver. 2.0 and more, RX-78-2 Gundam has supported the progress of the MG series.

One of the latest updates in the MG series after "Ver. 2.0" was "Nu Gundam Ver. Ka" released in Dec. 2012.

With the armor separated into detailed parts, the sliding gimmick and more, this kit included the latest technology and suggested new possibilities for gunpla.

To connect this point of arrival and the progress of recent years with the future, it was necessary to release RX-78-2 Gundam as MG once again, incorporating the latest technology into it.

In 2013, MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 3.0 is released not only recreating the latest Gundam design but also improving the posability, to create a scale model detailed even in its articulation mechanism, whose realism surpasses people's imagination.

A fusion of "a surprising articulation range" and "the ultimate exterior connection".

It's equipped with the "movable armor system", that improves the basic posability compared to the previous Ver. 2.0

This system includes armor parts which are connected to inner parts. Parts like the shoulder armor, that in the past got in the way of the posability, are now articulated, allowing for more freedom in posing the model.
